MCX Gold breaches past Rs.1,60,000

Gold futures rose over 1% to about $4,625 an ounce on Friday, aiming for a 5% gain for the week, marking five weeks of growth. The demand for gold increased due to market volatility in currencies and bonds, as well as rising oil prices raising inflation worries. The surge in gold prices was fueled by the US Treasury's plan to double long-term debt buybacks, which lowered Treasury yields and the dollar. The dollar index was around 98.6, set for a nearly 1% weekly decline, aiding gold's rise. Domestic bullion futures exceeded Rs 1,60,000 per 10 grams, also gaining more than 1%.
