The key equity barometers traded with pronounced losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23080-22820. Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Bank and Nifty Realty shares declined.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, retreated 1007.80 points or 1.36% to 72,887.94. The Nifty 50 index shed 312.50 points or 1.35% to 22,828.

The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 1.26% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index decreased by 1.21%.

The market breadth was fragile. On the BSE, 1503 shares rose and 3300 shares declined. A total of 257 shares were unchanged.

Nifty PSU Bank index fell 2.29%. The index has posted modest losses of 3.59% in last one month and climbed 12.19% over last one year. Bank of India, edging lower 4.06%, led the losers followed by Bank of Maha, easing 3.39% and Union Bank (I), slipping 3.31%, respectively. All 12 index constituents are reporting losses today.

Nifty Bank index slipped 1.81%. The index has eased by 3.36% in last one month and posted modest gains of 1.10% over last one year. Yes Bank, down 3.74%, led the losers followed by Union Bank (I), losing 3.31% and IDFC First Bank, down 2.87%, respectively. Out of 14 index constituents, 13 are reporting loss today.

Nifty Realty index retreated 1.70%. The index has lost 5.28% in last one month and lost 0.75% over last one year. A B Real Estate, edging lower 3.18%, led the losers followed by Lodha Developers, slipping 2.54% and Brigade Enterpr., slipping 1.96%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.

All 14 sectoral indices on NSE are trading in the red today. Nifty Media index has slumped 3.69% in last one month and is down 2.65% over last year. Nifty PSU Bank index has registered heavy losses of 3.59% in last one month and has surged 12.19% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Ola Electric AND Physicswallah are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1018.5 lakh shares, 1728.82 lakh shares and 5348.24 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets retreated on Monday. China’s Shanghai composite is significantly lower by 1.89%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is higher by 0.55%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is slightly lower by 0.26%.

NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 44 points today.
