The key equity barometers traded with marginal losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23593-23351. Nifty IT and Nifty FMCG shares gained, while Nifty Realty and Nifty Chemicals shares fell.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, lost 152.60 points or 0.20% to 74,629.16. The Nifty 50 index posted modest losses of 26.70 points or 0.11% to 23,371.40.

The broader market surpassed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index declined 0.91% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 0.98%.

The market breadth was fragile. On the BSE, 1723 shares advanced and 3003 shares retreated. A total of 294 shares were unchanged.

Nifty IT index recorded robust gains of 4.05% to 30093. The index has fallen 9.12% in last one month and slumped 19.67% over last one year. HCL Technologies, moving higher 6.01%, led the gainers followed by Mphasis, advancing 5.38% and Tech Mahindra, gaining 4.92%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.

Nifty FMCG index posted modest gains of 0.59% to 45321. The index has lost 7.65% in last one month and recorded sharp losses of 20.90% over last one year. Emami, adding 3.34%, led the gainers followed by Dabur India, inching higher 1.73% and Colgate-Palmoliv, up 0.79%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 10 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Realty index shed 1.83%. The index has edged lower 4.57% in last one month and inched down 3.99% over last one year. Godrej Propert., losing 3.32%, led the losers followed by Prestige Estates, edging lower 3.32% and A B Real Estate, down 2.85%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.

Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 12 are in red today. Nifty IT index has suffered sharp declines of 9.12% in last one month and has slumped 19.67% over last year. Nifty Realty index has recorded steep losses of 4.57% in last one month and is slightly lower by 3.99% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, IFCI AND Ola Electric are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1213.65 lakh shares, 3641.86 lakh shares and 1275.12 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets posted modest losses on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is down 0.26%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.54%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is marginally lower by 0.34%.
