The key equity barometers traded with marginal gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23495-23404. Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Media and Nifty Bank shares advanced, while Nifty Auto and Nifty Realty shares fell.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, down 53.70 points to 74,710.53. The Nifty 50 index up 4.75 points to 23,436.25.

The broader market surpassed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index inched down 0.40% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index posted modest losses of 0.14%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2303 shares rose and 2264 shares declined. A total of 244 shares were unchanged.

Nifty PSU Bank index moved higher by 0.95% to 8448. The index has slipped by 3.13% in last one month and posted strong gains of 21.65% over last one year. Punjab Natl.Bank, inching higher 1.99%, led the gainers followed by Bank of Maha, up 1.84% and Bank of Baroda, edging up 1.51%, respectively. Out of 12 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Media index posted modest gains of 0.80% to 1539. The index has edged lower 2.12% in last one month and edged lower by 5.85% over last one year. Saregama India, adding 2.28%, led the gainers followed by PVR Inox, gaining 2.02% and Sun TV Network, up 1.67%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Auto index moved lower by 0.55%. The index has fallen 6.64% in last one month and edged higher by 1.73% over last one year. Tube Investments, losing 1.32%, led the losers followed by Eicher Motors, slipping 1.03% and M & M, edging lower 0.81%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 13 are reporting loss today.

Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 8 are in red today. Nifty PSU Bank index has slumped 3.13% in last one month and is sharply higher by 21.65% over last year. Nifty Auto index has recorded steep losses of 6.64% in last one month and is up 1.73% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Cams Services AND Ola Electric are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1727.1 lakh shares, 54504.53 lakh shares and 2815.97 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets sank on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is marginally lower by 0.37%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is firmly lower by 1.47%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is modestly lower by 0.41%.

NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 83.25 points today.
