The key equity barometers traded with limited losses in early trade. Nifty opened at 23743 and hit a high of 23759 in first half hour of trade. Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare Index shares advanced, while Nifty IT and Nifty Media shares retreated.

At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, edged lower by 352.20 points or 0.46% to 75,780.61. The Nifty 50 index fell 218.20 points or 0.91% to 23,679.50.

The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index moved lower by 0.05% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index lost 0.07%.

The market breadth was unfavorable. On the BSE, 1887 shares gained and 2002 shares declined. A total of 201 shares were unchanged.

Nifty Pharma index inched up 0.70% to 26663. The index has inched higher by 0.50% in last one month and spiked 22% over last one year. Piramal Pharma, adding 1.32%, led the gainers followed by Ipca Labs., gaining 0.88% and Laurus Labs, up 0.85%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 13 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Healthcare Index index added 0.65% to 16515. The index has edged lower 1.13% in last one month and climbed 14.49% over last one year. Piramal Pharma, edging up 1.32%, led the gainers followed by Ipca Labs., inching higher 0.88% and Laurus Labs, up 0.85%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 12 are reporting gains today.

Nifty IT index tumbled 3.03%. The index has posted modest losses of 4.92% in last one month and fell 12.58% over last one year. Mphasis, losing 0.96%, led the losers followed by TCS, slipping 0.91% and Wipro, down 0.84%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.

In NIFTY500, GE Vernova T&D is the top gainer today, posting strong gains of 7.08% to Rs 4672. The counter has rallied 59.42% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 24444.50 in last five sessions compared to 53134.27 over last one month.

Asian markets traded slightly higher on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is modestly higher by 0.36%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is down 0.45%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is marginally higher by 0.34%.
