The key equity barometers traded with minor gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24006-23896. Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Private Bank and Nifty 50 shares gained, while Nifty Chemicals and Nifty Healthcare Index shares fell.

NIFTY edged up 0.31% in last session and plunged 3.64% over last one-week.

At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, added 554.10 points or 0.73% to 76,706.96. The Nifty 50 index inched up 91.05 points or 0.38% to 23,964.50.

The broader market performed worse than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index edged higher by 0.10% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index moved higher by 0.32%.

The market breadth was well-supported. On the BSE, 2875 shares rose and 2003 shares declined. A total of 269 shares were unchanged.

Nifty Financial Services index moved higher by 0.76% to 26120. The index has slipped by 3.93% in last one month and added 0.74% over last one year. LIC Housing Fin., up 3.91%, led the gainers followed by BSE, gaining 3.66% and HDFC Life Insur., adding 2.73%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 16 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Private Bank index inched up 0.51% to 27889. The index has drifted lower by 1.06% in last one month and posted modest gains of 5.58% over last one year. RBL Bank, inching higher 1.97%, led the gainers followed by HDFC Bank, edging up 1.53% and Kotak Mah. Bank, inching higher 1.29%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 7 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Chemicals index inched down 0.45%. The index has edged lower 0.77% in last one month and added 3.91% over last one year. Gujarat Fluoroch, edging lower 3.26%, led the losers followed by Tata Chemicals, losing 2.38% and SRF, slipping 1.86%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 10 are reporting loss today.

Asian markets rallied on Friday. China’s Shanghai composite is trading lower by 0.56%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is substantially higher by 1.75%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply higher by 1.26%.

In Europe, German DAX edged lower 0.12%, UK’s FTSE 100 moved up 0.70% and French CAC inched higher 0.07%.

In Commodities, MCX Gold drifted lower by 0.55% to trade at Rs 1,55,750 per 10 grams.
