The key equity barometers traded with minor losses in early trade. Nifty opened at 24575 and hit a high of 24577 in first half hour of trade. Nifty IT, Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Realty shares rose, while Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Financial Services shares declined. At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, edged lower by 346.31 points or 0.44% to 78,196.13. The Nifty 50 index posted modest losses of 83.65 points or 0.34% to 24,500.15. The broader market performed better than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index lost 0.25% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.27%. The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 1952 shares gained and 1837 shares fell. A total of 207 shares were unchanged. Nifty IT index moved higher by 0.73% to 31864. The index has registered sharp gains of 12.93% in last one month and inched down 8.43% over last one year. Coforge, inching higher 1.49%, led the gainers followed by Persistent Systems, edging up 1.45% and HCL Technologies, up 1.11%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today. Nifty Consumer Durables index edged higher by 0.45% to 40422. The index has added 5.32% in last one month and posted modest gains of 7.95% over last one year. Kajaria Ceramics, gaining 1.35%, led the gainers followed by Voltas, adding 1.14% and Amber Enterp., edging up 0.96%, respectively. Out of 13 index constituents, 6 are reporting gains today. Nifty Private Bank index lost 0.68%. The index has inched lower by 1.96% in last one month and posted modest gains of 2.82% over last one year. Axis Bank, easing 1.27%, led the losers followed by Kotak Mah. Bank, losing 0.83% and RBL Bank, down 0.69%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today. In NIFTY500, Gland Pharma is the top gainer today, posting strong gains of 8.99% to Rs 2902.90. The counter has posted strong gains of 37.75% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 64522.17 in last five sessions compared to 55835.18 over last one month. Asian markets climbed on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is marginally lower by 0.05%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.73%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply higher by 2.08%.
