Local stocks see limited gains, NIFTY up 0.59%

The key equity barometers traded with minor gains in early trade. Nifty opened at 24573 and hit a high of 24576 in first half hour of trade. BSE 250 SmallCap, Nifty Metal and Nifty FMCG shares advanced, while Nifty Media and Nifty Pharma shares declined. At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, inched up 530.17 points or 0.68% to 78,624.81. The Nifty 50 index moved higher by 143.45 points or 0.59% to 24,527.05. The broader market underperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index edged higher by 0.64% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index increased by 1.04%. The market breadth was encouraging. On the BSE, 3063 shares rose and 879 shares fell. A total of 257 shares were unchanged. BSE 250 SmallCap index climbed 1.04% to 7133. The index has edged up 0.40% in last one month and inched up 2.78% over last one year. Urban Company, spiking 14.65%, led the gainers followed by TBO Tek, advancing 9.28% and Blue Dart Expres, rising 5.84%, respectively. Out of 250 index constituents, 211 are reporting gains today. Nifty Metal index advanced 1.01% to 12847. The index has inched higher by 1.60% in last one month and jumped 36.98% over last one year. Adani Enterp., edging up 1.88%, led the gainers followed by Welspun Corp, up 1.86% and Natl. Aluminium, inching higher 1.60%, respectively. All 15 constituents are advancing today. In NIFTY500, Urban Company is the top gainer today, skyrocketing 14.65% to Rs 148.30. The counter is sharply down 22.44% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 106474.17 in last five sessions compared to 137317.50 over last one month. Asian markets retreated on Monday. China’s Shanghai composite is trading lower by 0.59%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng remained flat. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is lower by 1.06%.
