Quick Wrap: Nifty PSU Bank Index rises 3.70%, NIFTY jumps 1.56%

Nifty PSU Bank index closed up 3.70% at 8164.8 today. The index is down 15.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Punjab & Sind Bank added 6.63%, Bank of Maharashtra jumped 5.79% and UCO Bank gained 5.48%. The Nifty PSU Bank index is up 31.00% over last one year compared to the 2.10% decline in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Media index added 3.69% and Nifty Metal index increased 2.46% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 witnessed a rise of 1.56% to close at 22679.4 while the SENSEX recorded a gain of 1.65% to close at 73134.32 today.
