U.S. Stocks settle mixed

US stocks closed mixed on Monday due to a significant drop in semiconductor stocks, impacting the technology sector. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 140.15 points, or 0.26 percent, reaching 53,417.16. In contrast, the S&P 500 index fell by 21.51 points, or 0.28 percent, to 7,652.86, and the Nasdaq Composite Index decreased by 200.264 points, or 0.77 percent, to 25,980.19. Global economic news was sparse, and crude oil prices declined, although losses remained limited by a weak US dollar.
