Quick Wrap: Nifty Energy Index records a surge of 1.62%

Nifty Energy index ended up 1.62% at 42523.9 today. The index has added 10.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd jumped 4.02%, Reliance Industries Ltd gained 2.23% and NTPC Ltd added 1.84%. The Nifty Energy index has increased 66.00% over last one year compared to the 24.75% spike in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty PSE index increased 1.40% and Nifty Pharma index added 1.29% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 added 0.09% to close at 24323.85 while the SENSEX has declined 0.07% to close at 79996.6 today.
